Okay, boys and girls. It’s Noon, on Day Two of My Year Without Complaining. I don’t mean to brag, but I made it! Made it through my first day!
I’m thinking that’s not a major accomplishment. This is especially true since I spent most of the day reading, answering personal email, and eating chocolate. No complaints about any of that!
This morning, I appeared as appointed counsel for a 15-year-old girl with a 4-month old baby, whose mother (keep up: the mother of the 15-year-old girl with the 4-month old baby, that is) has been incarcerated since April, leaving the 15-year-old and her siblings without heat, electricity, water or food.
I left court feeling humbled, grateful, and without a single reason to complain. I realized that I am on the greener side of the fence.
So….I think I’ll show you some of the reasons that I’ve decided to have a wonderful life, starting with my husband. Here he is, looking a bit dorky, with his lovely daughter Cara:
